The PA6A unit covers the use of handheld applicators, including knapsack sprayers. PA6AW covers everything in the PA6A plus the ability and qualification to spray pesticides in or near watercourses, such as streams, rivers, ponds and lakes.
This training is held as standard at our Peterborough facility (PE2 6UP). However, if you wish to have this training at your site or another location that suits you better, please contact our team, who will be happy to discuss your options.
Please note: Date selections are for training only. An assessment must be purchased alongside training (please see our dropdown options to purchase this). This face-to-face individual assessment is carried out on a separate day. Where possible, we aim to complete assessments within the same week, but this must be arranged and confirmed beforehand. You may book assessments independently if you wish.
Objectives of this training for candidates to:
- Prepare a handheld pesticide applicator for work, calibrate it and operate it to ensure correct application rate without risk to themselves, other people and the environment.
- Use the information detailed on product labels to determine the approved uses for the product and its potential hazards to human safety, non-target areas and the environment in general.
- Carry out daily and routine maintenance on a handheld pesticide applicator.
- Carry out the correct procedure for cleaning personal protective equipment and application equipment which may have been contaminated with pesticide.
There are several methods of calibration which the candidates may use, provided that it produces the correct end result.
PA6AW covers:
- Demonstrate knowledge of preparing to apply a pesticide in or near water.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of application in or near water.
- Calibrate applicator.
